February 7, 2020 – Myth of the Underground Railroad
Alice McElwain is a teacher, historian and quilt appraiser from Bella Vista, AR. She is a member of the American Quilt Society, as well as, the American Quilt Study Group. Alice started teaching quilting in 1976 and owned and operated a quilt shop in Southwest Kansas. She participated in the Kansas Quilt Documentation in 1986. Alice is a member of M.O.K.A. a quilt study group of Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.
March 6, 2020 – “Revolution on Quilts”
Peggy Evans is a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and presents docudrama in the Character of ancestor.
April 3, 2020 – Storm at Sea
Lola Jenkins is a quilt designer, and award winning fiber artist who makes designer art quilts. She lectures on sewing techniques, is a Craftsy instructor and instructs quilt programs and workshops.
May 1, 2020 – Trunk Show about Using “precuts”
Gaye Cooper is from Bartlesville, OK and the owner of Sew Uptown Store. In addition to her program she will be vending during the monthly guild meeting.
June 5, 2020 – Linen Closet Designs “Small Town Girl to Designer”
Dawn Heese grew up in a family of quilters and stitchers . She is an author, pattern and fabric designer, as well as, an award winning quilter. She has published 5 books with Kansas City Star and her latest book, published by Quilt-mania, is printed in French and English. She designs quilt patterns under the name Linen Closet Designs and is a licensed fabric designer for Diamond Textiles. Her patterns have a vintage, folk art appeal. Dawn’s work can be seen in international and national magazines such as Quilt-mania, Simply Vintage, Fons and Porter, Quilts and More, and Primitive Quilts and Projects. She has taught in France and all over the United States sharing her love ad applique and quilting. Dawn lives in Prairie Home, MO.
August 7, 2020 – Morning Glory Designs
Reeze Hanson is a quilting teacher and pattern designer with a dozen or more published patterns. She is a popular lecturer at Quilt Guilds throughout Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas. She specializes in EQ8-computer assisted quilt design, machine applique, finding new ways to piece traditional designs so that they are easy and accessible to beginner and working quilters who have limited time.
In addition to her work as a digital artist, Reeze teaches and lectures about Color Confidence for Quilters. Now as a professional pattern designer Reeze produces patterns for new fabric lines for Northcott, Paintbrush Studio, Island Batiks, Windham Fabrics, Timeless Treasures and Robert Kaufman, in addition to free lance design work for shops (Row by Row patterns).
Reeze lives in Ottawa, KS with her husband, critters and fabric stash.
September 4, 2020 – Quilters’ Treasure Chest
Raija Salomaa – owns and operates Quilters’ Treasure Chest, a pattern business located in Rogers, AR. Her products include quilt patterns with detailed, step-by-step instructions and quilt note cards. Raija is a native of the Nordic country of Finland, the land of over a hundred thousand lakes and magnificent textile designs.
Although sewing since childhood, Raija didn’t get introduced to quilting until her late twenties. Quilting quickly took over her life and before long she was designing her own quilt patterns. Having taught for years she was aware of the need for precise, accurate, and easy to follow instructions, She has spent years developing patterns that will deliver much more than your average quilt pattern.
